The Secretary Health Services and Environment Secretariat Dr. Dolapo Fasawe has Enrolled 20 senior citizens of the FCT into the FCT Health Insurance Scheme FHIS.
Dr. Fasawe made this known at a community dialogue with older persons and stakeholders on the rights of older persons in Bwari Area council of the FCT organised by the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC).
The enrollment followed an initial registration of 45 senior citizens into the FHIS by the Centre.
Dr. Fasawe who was represented by the Acting Director FCT Health Insurance Scheme (FHIS) Dr. Aminat Zakari said she was impressed that the Centre took it upon themselves to register 45 senior citizens.
“Since you have enrolled 45 persons into our Scheme on your own, I’m going to encourage you to register more persons by personally enrolling 20 more senior citizens resident in the FCT.”
The Secretary added that the more the center enrolls more senior citizens, the more she will also encourage them.
She promised to collaborate with the NSCC in achieving it’s domain number 2 which focuses on promotion of Health and well-being.
“we will cooperate with you to ensure you achieve your domain number 2 target which is under our purview, by providing a fuctional and inclusive primary health care for the senior citizens” .
Earlier the Director General National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC) Dr. Emem Omokaro, assured the FHIS that with such kind gesture from the FCT Health Services and Environment Secretary, it is pertinent that their partnership will continue with more enrollment.
The dialogue which is on the sidelines of the commemoration of the 2023 National Day of Older Persons is celebrated on the 1st of October globally.
